"Geremino Bisceglia (January 17, 1910 in Harrison, New York - March 14, 1987 in Newburgh, New York) , better known as Tex Fletcher, was a singing cowboy with credits as a recording artist, Broadway and movie actor, night club performer, and radio and television personality. " "The 1930s proved a busy and productive time for Fletcher, as he landed on big-time radio, starred on Broadway, starred in two movies, toured the country as a soloist and with a group, played Madison Square Garden, landed a record deal with Decca (that lasted well into the 1950s) and performed for the President of the United States. Tex hit the trail running in 1932 singing cowboy songs over WFAS in White Plains, NY. In 1934 as he landed the role of Cowboy Answer Man on WWOR, New Jersey, at the height of singing cowboy craze, replacing close friend and cowboy star, Tex Ritter (he remained with WWOR for more than 20 years, going off the air in 1957). After a run on Broadway in the production of Howdy Stranger in 1937, Tex became a member of popular radio hillbilly group, “Tom Emerson’s Mountaineers, ” then broadcasting nationwide over WMCA and affiliates, touring the country and with whom he appeared in the Hollywood musical production of “Down on The Barn” in 1938. This initial movie appearance brought the handsome singer to the attention of Hollywood talent scouts looking for a fresh face to star in a new series of sagebrush musicals planned by Acadia Productions to be made by Grand National Pictures, again taking the place of Tex Ritter who had moved on to another studio. Johnny Zero
New York: Santly-Joy, Inc, 1943. 1st Edition; 1st Printing. Sheet Music. This sheet music is in Very Good+ condition and was issued without a dust jacket. The spine ends and corners of the covers have some light bumping and rubbing. The inner pages are clean and bright. "The kids all called him Johnny Zero; In school they always used to say, "Johnny got a zero, Johnny got a zero, Johnny got a zero today." The kids all laughted at Johnny Zero And they would tease him when they'd play, "Johnny got a zero, Johnny got a zero, Johnny got a zero today." "" "Foley enlisted in November 1941. [2] After the attack on Pearl Harbor, he was assigned to a non-combat role with the 22nd Bomb Group stationed in Australia. His diligent cleaning of the machine guns of a B-26 Marauder caught the attention of the bomber's pilot, Lieutenant Walter Krell. [3] As the top turret gunner was injured, Foley became his replacement, despite having no aerial-gunnery training. [1][2]After a quick introduction to the equipment and procedures and one practice mission, Foley found himself on his first combat mission two days later, a raid against shipping near Rabaul on May 24, 1942. [3] He shot down an A6M Zero, [2] even though he had not even been taught how to use the gunsight. [3] Two weeks later, he was credited with two more over Lae. [2] International News Service war correspondent Pat Robinson wrote an article about him and dubbed him "Johnny Zero". "The song "Johnny Got a Zero" was released as sheet music in 1943, lyrics by Mack David and music by Vee Lawnhurst, and topped out at #4 on the Variety list for the week of April 28. An a cappella rendition by the Song Spinners, "Johnny Zero", stayed on Billboard magazine's charts from June to August, peaking at #7. In the song, Johnny does poorly in school, with the other children mocking him with "Johnny got a zero" every time he fails a test. However, when he grows up and becomes a fighter pilot, the words take on an entirely different meaning.". Very Good+ .

UNION MUSIC PUB. CO. / E. N. GUCKERT
The Original Guckert's Chords for the Ukulele at Sight without Notes Or Teacher
Detroit, MI: Union Music Pub. Co, 1917. 1st Edition; 1st Printing. Sheet music. B&W Illustrations; This is a larger than trade sized booklet with cardstock covers and a stapled spine. The booklet is in Near Fine condition and was issued without a dust jacket. The text pages are clean and bright. "The Ukulele is commonly associated with music from Hawaii where the name roughly translates as "jumping flea", perhaps because of the movement of the player's fingers. Legend attributes it to the nickname of the Englishman Edward William Purvis, one of King Kalakaua's officers, because of his small size, fidgety manner, and playing expertise. One of the earliest appearances of the word Ukulele in print (in the sense of a stringed instrument) is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Catalogue of the Crosby Brown Collection of Musical Instruments of All Nations published in 1907. The catalog describes two ukuleles from Hawaii: one that is similar in size to a modern soprano Ukulele, and one that is similar to a tenor. Developed in the 1880s, the Ukulele is based on several small guitar-like instruments of Portuguese origin, the machete, the cavaquinho, the timple, and the rajão, introduced to the Hawaiian Islands by Portuguese immigrants from Madeira and Cape Verde. Three immigrants in particular, Madeiran cabinet makers Manuel Nunes, José do Espírito Santo, and Augusto Dias, are generally credited as the first ukulele makers. Two weeks after they disembarked from the SS Ravenscrag in late August 1879, the Hawaiian Gazette reported that "Madeira Islanders recently arrived here, have been delighting the people with nightly street concerts." The spine ends, corners and edges of the music has some light bumping, rubbing and creasing. The text pages are clean and bright. "Often listed as being of unknown authorship -- probably because French's original composition (set in the Crimean War) was stolen and printed without his name. Conflict between Russia and the Ottoman Empire was almost constant in the nineteenth century, as the Tsar sought to expand his realm and the feeble Turks tried to hold onto their European possessions. Full-fledged wars were few, however, making it clear that this song refers to the Crimean War (which pitted England, France, and the Ottomans against the Russians). Abdul's cry, "Allah Akbar," means "God is great," and is a common Islamic slogan." Bülbül Amîr" means "nightingale chieftain" in Turkish." (from The Ballad Index). Very Good .
